The Leicester Elementary PTO Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What exactly does the PTO do?

The PTO is an advocacy and advisory organization. The PTO raises funds to support a wide variety of enrichment activities at Leicester Elementary School. The PTO funds transportation for school field trips, various artistic and cultural performances, and a variety of special presentation and workshops. The PTO also plays a vital role in providing feedback, information, and guidance to the Principal and other staff.

How does membership in the PTO work?

If you are the parent or guardian of a child attending Leicester Elementary School, you are already a member of the PTO! There are no dues to pay, no membership forms, and no secret handshakes. Come to a meeting and find out how you can help make your child's school even better than it already is.

Am I committing to serve as a volunteer by joining the PTO?

Absolutely not! By joining the PTO you are simply showing support for your child and your child's school.

What exactly does the PTO do with the money that they raise?

The PTO uses every dollar of the money raised right here in your child's school for projects like the playground, attendance awards, additional material for the classrooms, family events, and many, many more worthwhile projects.

What special skills or training do I need to be a PTO volunteer?

If you have a desire to be involved in your child's school then you are more than qualified to be a PTO or school volunteer.

Can I volunteer if I am a working parent?

Absolutely! We need all kinds of volunteers including stay at home parents and working parents. There are many opportunities to volunteer during the school hours, during evening hours and on the weekend. If you wish to volunteer, please fill out the volunteer form or sign up on-line and some one will contact you.
